Research methodology training
Workshops and courses in study design, protocols, ethics, data management and writing, for individuals and institutions.
Research methodology training Cameroon is how Sintieh Research Academy started in 2019, and it remains our largest programme. More than 1,000 health professionals have learned to design, run and report a study through these workshops. Training is delivered to individuals through open courses and to institutions through tailored workshops for a department or an NGO team.

- Hospital departments starting a research or audit programme.
- NGOs building monitoring and evaluation capacity.
- University departments that want practical, applied methods teaching.

What research methodology training includes
- Research methods workshops: question, design, sampling, measurement.
- Protocol and ethics application writing.
- Grant writing masterclasses.
- Implementation science training.
- Data management courses using REDCap, ODK and KoboToolbox.
Duration and format
Institutional workshops run from one day to one week, on site or in Buea, with follow-up mentorship for the teams that want to complete a study. Open courses run four to eight weeks online. Every workshop is tailored after a scoping call, and every participant leaves with a draft protocol for a study they can actually run.

Our standards
Every piece of work follows a written protocol and, where people are involved, ethical approval before data collection. We report to the partner as well as to a journal, and we follow ICMJE authorship rules. As a result, partners can rely on what Sintieh Research Academy delivers, and readers can check every claim against its source. In addition, all of our research methodology training work is delivered by staff and fellows who have themselves published.
