One-on-one research mentorship
Tailored guidance from a personal mentor, whether you are starting your first study or finishing an advanced one.

One-on-one research mentorship gives you a single, named mentor for the whole life of a study. It suits researchers whose question, timetable or method does not fit a cohort programme, and those who want privacy while they develop an idea. The mentor is a published researcher chosen for your topic, and the pace is set by you.
Who one-on-one research mentorship is for
- Beginners who have a question but have never written a protocol.
- Advanced researchers who need a critical reader for a grant or a manuscript.
- Clinicians with limited time who need a flexible schedule.
- Teams of two or three working on the same study.
What one-on-one research mentorship includes
- An intake call and a written mentorship plan with milestones.
- Fortnightly sessions of 45 to 60 minutes, online or in Buea.
- Tracked-changes review of every draft within five working days.
- Support with ethics applications, data analysis plans and journal choice.
- A final review before submission and help with reviewer responses.

Duration and format
Three-month blocks, renewable. Sessions are online by default; fellows in the South West Region can meet in person. Between sessions, mentors answer questions by email within two working days. Compare with the cohort-based systematic review mentorship programme and the general research mentorship page.
How to apply
Send a message through the contact page with the course name in the subject line, or write to info@sra.shineltd.org. We reply within two business days with the next start date, the fee and a short application form. Places are confirmed in the order applications arrive.
Our standards
Every piece of work follows a written protocol and, where people are involved, ethical approval before data collection. We report to the partner as well as to a journal, and we follow ICMJE authorship rules. As a result, partners can rely on what Sintieh Research Academy delivers, and readers can check every claim against its source. In addition, all of our one-on-one research mentorship work is delivered by staff and fellows who have themselves published.
