SRA systematic review mentorship programme
A 16-week sprint with a mentor, weekly sessions and clear milestones from protocol to manuscript or preprint.

The SRA systematic review mentorship programme is a 16-week sprint that turns a research idea into publishable evidence. Sintieh Research Academy is a mission-driven research organisation building the next generation of African health researchers. Since 2019 we have trained more than 1,000 learners, and this programme is where many of them wrote their first review.
How the systematic review mentorship programme works
You are paired with a mentor, join weekly reinforcement sessions and work through clear milestones: protocol, search, screening, extraction, synthesis, and a manuscript or preprint. Each milestone has a template and a deadline, and each week ends with a short check-in.
Who the systematic review mentorship programme is for
- Health professionals and postgraduate students with a review question.
- Researchers who can commit five to eight hours a week for 16 weeks.
- Applicants willing to mentor at least two new mentees after completion.
What we expect
- Commit five to eight hours a week and attend mentor check-ins.
- Meet milestones and collaborate proactively.
- Uphold SRA’s values: honesty, humility, discipline, productivity.
- Follow authorship and research integrity standards (ICMJE).
- Pay it forward by mentoring at least two new mentees after completion.

What you finish with
By week 16 every fellow has a registered protocol, a documented search, a completed extraction table and a draft manuscript or preprint. Most cohorts submit to a journal within three months of finishing. Fellows also gain a mentor who knows their work, a peer group and a place in the SRA expert network, where paid project work is offered first to alumni.
Duration and format
Sixteen weeks, starting with each new cohort. Weekly sessions are online; the protocol and synthesis workshops are held in person in Buea for fellows who can attend. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and cohort dates are announced in the information bar at the top of this site.
